SMFT™ — Slow Movement Fitness Training

SMFT (Slow Movement Fitness Training) is an educational methodology that integrates breath, movement, strength and nervous system principles into a coherent approach to human movement.

Developed through the philosophy of Human Systems Coherence Training (HSCT) ™️, SMFT helps practitioners understand movement as more than biomechanics alone—encouraging a broader perspective on how physical and mental wellbeing work together.

Whether you’re a movement professional seeking advanced professional development or someone with a deeper interest in human performance and wellbeing, SMFT offers a critical way of thinking about movement and the role it plays in lifelong health.

Why SMFT?

Movement is changing.

Today’s clients aren’t simply looking to become stronger or more flexible. They’re increasingly interested in resilience, longevity, nervous system health and sustainable wellbeing. At the same time, the boundaries between fitness, rehabilitation, healthcare and mental wellbeing continue to converge.

SMFT was developed in response to this changing landscape.

Rather than viewing movement through a single lens, SMFT provides an integrated educational methodology that encourages practitioners to observe more deeply, think more critically and coach with greater confidence.

What You’ll Gain

SMFT introduces a distinctive approach to professional development through:

  • Human Systems Coherence Training (HSCT)
  • Breath and pressure management
  • Joint Re-Mapping™
  • Observational and analytical reasoning
  • Progressive coaching and programming principles
  • Practical applications across multiple movement disciplines

These principles are transferable across movement, health and well-being education and landscapes.

What You'll Explore and Learn:

Across 35 hours of hybrid learning (online and in person) you’ll explore the principles and methodologies that underpin SMFT, including:

  • Human Systems Coherence Training (HSCT)
  • Observational and analytical reasoning
  • Breath and pressure management
  • Joint Re-Mapping™
  • Movement analysis and load management
  • Progressive coaching and programming principles
  • Communication and cueing across multiple movement disciplines

Practical applications are integrated throughout the programme, with every concept building upon the observational and analytical foundations established from the outset.
